The month of October 2004 was perhaps the most prosperousAtlantic Cup stretch in United history. Between 10/2 and 10/30 the Black-and-Red beat the MetroStars four times, including a 2-0 road playoff win on October 23.  After a scoreless first half, Earnie Stewart broke throughin the 67th minute on a goal New York fans still believe was offsides.  Alecko Eskandarian sealed the victorywith an 88th minute strike.

Late in 2006, Christian Gomez was on a serious roll.  The Argentine maintained his fine formby scoring the lone goal in D.C.’s playoff-opening win in New York.  Only 8,630 fans were there to witnessit, but the give-and-go between Gomez and Jaime Moreno that set up the 77thminute strike was a thing of beauty. This victory was United's last in the postseason.
