Trialists update

This afternoon, D.C. United heads to Sarasota, FL for the first of three trips away from RFK Stadium.


Of the 14 players - 11 trialists and three Supplemental Draft picks - who joined the team last week for training in DC, just six have earned the right to continue on in Sarasota:

Meanwhile, Yoni Berhanu, Mike da Fonte, Carl Goody, Levi Houapeu, Matt Oduran, Will Swaim, Sainey Touray and Matthew Kuhn have all been released from their respective trials.


Three additional players will join the club on trial this week in Florida.


Alanzo Adlam (F)
22-year old Adlam most recently played with Portmore United of Jamaica's top flight. He has represented the Jamaica Men's National Team at both the U-20 and U-23 level.


Josh Lambo (GK)
21-year old Josh Lambo was recently waived by FC Dallas after four seasons with the Western Conference club. He was originally drafted by Dallas in the first round (8th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. Lambo has played for the U.S. Men's National Team at various youth levels.


Sebastian Svard (M)
A midfielder from Denmark, Svard began his club career with Arsenal. The 29-year old did not make any first team appearances for the Gunners and was loaned out to four teams (FC Copenhagen, Stoke City, Brondby and Vitoria Setubal) over six years. In 2006, he joined Borussia Monchegladbach, where he made 43 appearances. Most recently, Svard was with Roda JC of the Eredivise.


Lambo arrived in DC Sunday and will travel with the team Monday, while Adlam and Svard are set to meet the team in Florida Monday afternoon.


FRIENDLIES

While in Florida, D.C. United will participate in two friendlies. On Sunday, January 29, the Black-and-Red will take on the Chicago Fire at Florida Gulf Coast University. Then, on Thursday, February 2 - the team's final day in Florida - D.C. will face Malmo FF of Sweden at IMG Academy. Both matches are open to the public. Fans interested in attending should contact the host venue for information on any possible gate costs. We'll provide match updates for both contests via Twitter.
