D.C.United announced today that defender Marc Burch has undergone a successfulcheilectomy to repair a Hallux Rigidus (arthritic big toe) condition in hisright foot. The procedure was performed by Podiatric specialist Lew C. Schon,M.D. at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md. Burch is expected to make afull recovery in time for the 2012 MLS season.
“We are pleased that Marc has undergone successfulsurgery, and we expect him to make a full recovery and be ready for the startof 2012 preseason training,” said General Manager Dave Kasper.
Inhis fifth campaign with D.C. United, Burch played 17 matches (11 starts),registering one goal and an assist in 1,117 minutes of action during the 2011MLS season.
