D.C. United media round-up

Chris Pontius - Logan Pause

Aiming to add to an impressive away record (4-3-3, 15 points) in 2011, D.C. United hits the road again to face Eastern Conference rival Chicago Fire (2-7-14, 20 points) and Sporting Kansas City (7-7-9, 30 points) in back-to-back matches. The first stop of the four-day tour begins tonight at Toyota Park, as the Black-and-Red (7-6-9, 30 points) take on the Chicago Fire at 9:00 p.m. ET (ESPN2). To help you prepare for tonight's contest, here are the notes you'll need to set the table.

We begin with TheWashington Post, as Steve Goff highlights the importance of United's healthy roster. Then, we turn to The Washington Times, as Thomas Floyd focuses on how midfielder Stephen King's hard work is making a difference to the Black-and-Red. Next, Gregory Hardy from South Carolina's The State Newspaper profiles former USC Gamecocks Josh Wolff and Blake Brettschneider

Earlier this week, Comcast SportsNet's Sebastian Salazar stopped by United's Training Complex for one-on-one interviews with Head Coach Ben Olsen and leading goal scorer Charlie Davies. Then, Stacy Cason talked to MLS Player of the Week Chris Pontius.

As usual, there is plenty of information available here at dcunited.com. First, Travis Clark reviews defender Dejan Jakovic's triumphant return to United's backline and the team's hopes of winning back-to-back games. Then, Alex Caulfield provides the latest updates on the team before going on the road. Finally, former Chicago Fire players Stephen King and Josh Wolff share their thoughts ahead of tonight's match.
