D.C. United announced todaythat the club will host the 2011 installment of Futbolito, the officialfour-on-four tournament of Major League Soccer. Presented by partners Volkswagenand Verizon Wireless, the event will take place on Sunday, July 10 at the MarylandSoccerplex in Boyds, Md. The festivities are set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
In 2011 MLS’ Futbolito isbringing soccer action to eight communities across the country. There are threedivisions open for registration – Premier Adult, the most competitive divisionin which teams compete for cash prizes; Adult Recreational, with male andfemale divisions; and Youth, with boys and girls divisions for each age group.
Besides great competition, theday-long event offers food, music and fun activities for the whole family. TheAdult Premier Division-winning team will receive $2,000 and the runner-up willreceive $1,000. Also, each player will receive a D.C. United voucher good forany MLS home game between July 20 and August 27, 2011.
