Super Copa final set for RFK Stadium

Inter de Virginia - 2011 La Super Copa

Four weeks after sixteen on the area's top amateur adult teams kicked off La Super Copa VI, presented by Volkswagen, only two teams remain in the battle for the La Super Copa VI trophy, $5,000 grand prize and local bragging rights.

Following this weekend's semifinal round, Inter de Virginia (Manassas Universal League) and Municipal Limeno (Maryland International Soccer League) are set to meet in the La Super Copa VI final on May 7. Perhaps it is fitting the two squads hail from Virginia and Maryland respectively, as the championship bout will be hosted on neutral ground in Washington, D.C.

For this first time in the history of the tournament, the finale will be hosted on the main field inside RFK Stadium. Kickoff will begin approximately 15 minutes after the final whistle of the D.C. United vs. F.C. Dallas match.

Fans can attend the La Super Copa VI championship match with a ticket for the D.C. United vs. F.C. Dallas game. Following the first team's match, fans can stay to watch the La Super Copa VI bout from a designated section closer to the field. (Purchase tickets)

Each team participating in La Super Copa received twenty adidas uniforms and tickets to D.C. United's home opener against the Columbus Crew. Verizon Wireless, State Farm, American Airlines and D.C. Lottery are supporting sponsors of La Super Copa VI.

Weather contingency: If the final cannot be played on the main field, the rain date will be May 14 at 4:00 p.m. on the RFK Stadium Training Complex turf field prior to D.C. United's home game against the Colorado Rapids.
