We've got some very, very good news for you this morning... Chris Pontius has signed a new deal with the club.
After being named as a Rookie of the Year finalist during his first season in DC, Pontius is primed for big things in 2010 and beyond. The California native is also coming off his first-ever U.S. Men's National Team camp after spending the month of January training with the U.S. in Carson, CA.
Here's what GM Dave Kasper had to say about the new deal for CP:
“Chris had a terrific rookie season and we are pleased to have completed a new deal with him. We believe that his best soccer is well ahead of him and we will challenge him in every way for him to reach his full potential. We are excited about his future, and we look forward to his contributions this season and beyond.”
And Pontius had this to say:
“I’m very excited to have reached a new deal with United. I had a great time last year and we have big plans for the future of this club. I’m looking forward to contributing even more to the club and I’m excited for the 2010 season.”
