D.C. United announces 2010 schedule

Washington, D.C. (February 3, 2010) – D.C. United announced today its 2010 Major League Soccer regular season schedule. Winners of 12 major domestic and international titles, D.C. United kicks off the campaign during First Kick weekend – presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods – on Saturday, March 27 in Kansas City with the home opener set for Saturday, April 3 against the New England Revolution. For the first time in League history, United will play a balanced schedule, participating in a home and away series against all 15 MLS franchises. The Black-and-Red will also play a host of nationally televised games, including two opportunities to avenge the 2009 U.S. Open Cup Final loss against the Seattle Sounders FC on June 10 and July 15, both on espn2. On July 18, the club welcomes another Western Conference power to RFK Stadium, as United take on the LA Galaxy on Fox Soccer Channel. Similarly, the Black-and-Red will welcome a new rival in 2010, as the expansion Philadelphia Union join the MLS ranks this season. United will make the trip up Interstate 95 to Philadelphia on April 10, with the match being broadcast via Fox Soccer Channel. United welcomes Atlantic Cup rivals New York Red Bull to RFK Stadium on May 1, while the club will make the return trip to the new Red Bull Arena on July 10.Various League broadcast partners, including ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Sports en Español, and TeleFutura, will nationally televise almost half of United’s 30 regular season MLS games. The team’s regional TV schedule on broadcast partner Comcast SportsNet, as well as the club’s radio broadcasting plans for 2010, will be released in the coming weeks.Full season, half season and flex plans are now on sale through the D.C.
