Pre-season trialists

We spoke to GM Dave Kasper this afternoon and have an update on some of the players who will be joining United on trial beginning next week (we just announced our
pre-season schedule
).
Lyle Adams
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Lyle Adams is a 6’2” defender that was drafted 26
th
overall in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by D.C. United. However, Adams aimed to play in Europe in 2009 instead of signing for the Black-and-Red, as the centerback went on trial with clubs in Austira, Switzerland, and Belgium. Ultimately Adams landed in the United Soccer Leagues’ first division with the expansion Austin Aztex, making his professional debut on April 18, 2009 in Austin’s USl-1 opening match against the Minnesota Thunder. He was released by Austin at the conclusion of the 2009 season. Adams attended Wake Forest University, where he captured an NCAA Division I National Championship in 2007.
Two-Boys Gumede
A 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Gumede is a South African national that has played as an attacking midfielder and striker. At UAB, Gumede was a three-year teammate of current United defender Dejan Jakovic. The Durban native was an All-American and ranks in UAB’s top-10 list for goal, assists, and points. In his college career he started 56 of 57 career games for the blazers. Gumede took part in United's invite-only combine following the end of the 2009 season (And yes, United midfielder Boyzzz Khumalo and Two-Boys know each other).
Otto Loewy
A standout defender and midfielder at Winthrop University, Otto Loewy wrapped up his college career in the fall of 2008, but missed out on the 2009 MLS Player Combine due to a leg fracture. Loewy went undrafted in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, but he has since recovered from his injury and will enter the 2010 MLS preseason as a trialist with D.C. United.
Daniel Wasson
A native of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Daniel Wasson is a midfielder that has spent the last two seasons playing in Germany. Most recently Wasson featured for VfL Osnabruck of the German Second Division, and in the 2007-2008 season he played for SV Meppen in the Oberliga Niedersachsen-West (German Fifth Division). Previously Wasson played 22 matches for the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, scoring one goal in 2006-2007. The midfielder was selcted 38
th
overall by Colorado in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft. Wasson attended Tulsa University, appearing in 60 matches for the Golden Hurricanes, scoring 27 goals and registering 11 assists. He began his college career at the United States Air Force Academy in 2002 before Transferring to Tulsa in 2004.
