Quaranta sidelined for 4-6 months

The club received bad news this afternoon when it learned Santino Quaranta is out for the season and will likely be sidelined for a total of 4-6 months after rupturing the plantar plate in his left foot's first metatarsal. The 24-year old injured the foot at training on Friday and was evaluated by a specialist today. He'll have surgery to repair the injury tomorrow at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

The injury is the same one Quaranta suffered in 2006 on his right foot while a member of the New York Red Bulls.

Quaranta finishes 2009 with two goals and six assists in 22 total games (19 starts).
