Post-game quotes: Chivas USA-D.C. United

MLS QUOTESHEET 2009

SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2009 - CHIVAS USA 2, D.C. UNITED 2

D.C. UNITED HEAD COACH TOM SOEHN
On the comeback:

The guys are resilient, and once again we showed the character that we’ve shown all year that we’re not going to lose, we’re going to give everything we have. We’re proud of the passion that they showed, and the character, and the heart.

On the play of Santino Quaranta:

He’s playing with a lot of emotion, he just had a baby. He’s done a lot to get himself where he needs to be, and he continues this great run after some real adversity. It’s a real credit to him and how disciplined and dedicated he is. He did a great job tonight.

D.C. UNITED DEFENDER BRYAN NAMOFF

On the team’s play:

The training we had the day before [the match] was really sharp. We were playing really good soccer. We said we wanted to continue to try to play really good soccer, not only at home but to continue on the road, and we not only wanted to outwork them, but to out-play them. I thought we put a really good performance in both halves.

On being able to come back:

We obviously lost momentum after that first goal, just because more of the shock value of it, but we’re sticking with the play. No one is lowering their heads and giving up. We’re putting in 90 minute performances, and as you see, we’re able to come back regardless of what situation that we’re in. That’s just the character of every player out there, including the depth off the bench that came in and gave us a lift.

D.C. UNITED MIDFIELDER SANTINO QUARANTA

On the team's come back:

I thought the team fought back. Chivas is good at home, they've done well all year. I think that the guys that came on (substitutions) did a great job and it's good to get out of here with a point.

On his performance:

I was just trying to make plays and I had a pretty good second half tonight. But I'm happy with the team's result.

On his goal:

I tried to get it on frame and I struck it perfectly and it moved a little bit and went right down inside the corner.

On the team's six-game unbeaten streak:

It shows our resilience. We have a very deep team and we fight back and play the full 90 minutes. We're getting results and everybody is pretty happy.
