Kicks For Kids program returns

WASHINGTON, DC (March 27, 2009) - United for D.C, the charitable arm of D.C. United, is excited to kick off another year serving youth throughout the D.C. Metro area by providing a game day experience at D.C. United matches. Since 2001, Kicks for Kids has provided free-of-charge tickets to regular season D.C. United home matches, free meal vouchers, t-shirts and access to transportation assistance to area non-profit organizations and other community-based groups that serve at-risk, disadvantaged or inner-city children. In 2009, Kicks For Kids is proud to be able to continue to distribute thousands of tickets to organizations throughout the District of Columbia, state of Maryland, and commonwealth of Virginia, all thanks to the generous donations from our sponsors.

“Kicks for Kids really provides a unique and exciting opportunity for thousands of kids to have a game day experience while watching a world-class soccer program in D.C. United,” said United for D.C. Program Coordinator Kat Cheshire. “We have had a large number of new organizations apply for our program this year and are looking forward to start of the season. We are very excited to host an array of both new and returning beneficiaries to our first game on March 28.”

The Kicks for Kids program has grown substantially over the years. Last year’s efforts were well met, with more than 9,000 tickets donated to the disadvantaged youth in the D.C. community. United for D.C. was able to provide tickets to all 140 organizations that applied to this program. We look forward to matching or exceeding this goal in the 2009 season.

This program is made possible by various civic-minded corporations and foundations which have generously donated dollars to support Kicks for Kids. United for D.C. recognizes the following sponsors for various levels of support: Zuckerman Spaeder, LLP and VOA Associates Incorporated are Black & Red partners, while adidas America, Brotman Winter Fried Communications, Levick Strategic Communications, and Phacil, Inc. all sponsor Kicks for Kids at the Supporters level.

United for D.C. thanks all the sponsors involved for their support with the 2009 season.
