Say hello to the newest members of D.C. United - Ibrahim "Marcel" Koroma, Thabiso "Boyzzz" Khumalo and Greg "working on nickname" Janicki. We'll shortly announce that all three players have been signed to represent the Black-and-Red.
Marcel comes to the team from Sierra Leone Premier League, where he spent the last three seasons playing with Kallon FC. The 19-year old defender has represented his country at the U-17, U-20 and U-23 level and also broke into the senior national team last year. All told, he has nine caps for Sierra Leone including five World Cup qualifers.
Boyzzz - yes, that's really the name he prefers to go by and yes, we'll find out why - has been with the team for a while, seeing time in two reserve matches as a guest player (both starts and he notched a goal). The 27-year old forward comes to United on loan from othe Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL-2) where he led the team with six goals and added three assists.
Greg, like Boyzzz (I'll never tire of typing that), arrives on loan from the Riverhounds. The 24-year old appeared in 14 games, totaling 1,036 minutes on the pitch, for Pittsburgh. The 6-foot, 3-inch defender spent his entire collegiate career at Michigan State University.
