While goalkeeper Nick Rimando might not have had the workload in 2008 as he was during his first season with Real Salt Lake (he faced 50 less shots than in '07), by no means was he any less valuable. The veteran netminder picked up his game as the team in front of him jelled, as evidenced by him being selected the MLS Player of the Month for July, earning the award for allowing just one goal in four contests during the midst of RSL's best run of the season. However, Rimando would save his best for last, making five saves in the season finale at Colorado to keep his side within striking distance of the draw they needed - and the playoff spot that came from it. The rock-steady Rimando - one of four netminders to log every minute in League play in 2008 - continues to move up the charts in several of MLS' all-time goalkeeping statistics, and the nimble shot-stopper is sure to improve upon his career 51 shutouts (5th), 202 games played and started (both 6th), 82 wins (6th) and 815 saves (6th) during the 2009 campaign while providing his vocal leadership both on and off the field.
