The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup announced the results of the draw determining the fourth round tournament home sites and match ups.
D.C. United will host the fourth round match, scheduled for June 15 at 7:30 PM, at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD. The Black-and-Red will take on the winner of the third round contest between the Richmond Kickers and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on June 1, 2016 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Should United face the Richmond USL outfit -- winners of the 1995 U.S. Open Cup, the predecessor to the present-day tournament -- the Black-and-Red would face their third-division affiliates for the first time in three years, when the partnership began in 2013. There have been 34 players that have suited up for both the Kickers and United, and the partnership was recently extended through the 2017 season. The Black-and-Red last faced the Kickers in Open Cup play in May 2013, winning 4-2 on penalties in the third round before eventually going on to win the tournament.
