After a convincing 4-2 home victory over the Colorado Rapids on August 17, the team returned to the RFK training field with a short turn around to the opening of its CONCACAF Champions League campaign against Jamaican side Waterhouse FC (Wednesday, Aug. 20, 8 p.m. EST)

Per usual, the Black-and-Red began practice with a customary game of 5v2 keep away to get warm, before transitioning to dynamic stretching and a running-focused agility drill. After the warm up, the guys split in to two groups, working on a passing drill within a 70-yard space. Distinguishing themselves with red and yellow pinnies, the teams ran several cycles of various passing routines and combinations before finishing with shots on goal.

Next, the two sides transitioned into a full field scrimmage, with ‘keepers in goal on both ends. After three games with five-minute halves, the yellow team ultimately outscored its temporary opponent, 1-0. Forward David Estrada scored the lone goal.

To finish off the day’s training, the players ran a light shooting drill on goal. Upon completion, the guys did individual stretching before finally returning to the locker room.

Following tomorrow’s meeting with Waterhouse FC, D.C. United will take on Sporting Kansas City in a first place Eastern Conference battle on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Sporting Park.
