Wednesday Training Notes
D.C. United may be in its final week of the season, but the squad is still training at a high level in preparation for Sunday's game against the Houston Dynamo. Yesterday, United began its session with simple passing drills and quickly transitioned into a team possession exercise.
After warming up in the crisp temperatures, the Black-and-Red ran a transition drill that created both 3 v 2 and 2 v 1 situations. After the three attackers took on the pair of defenders, the defenders countered against a lone player at the other end of the pitch.
A full-field scrimmage soon followed, and D.C. ended training with a finishing drill—the ball was played wide and then whipped in for a pair of attackers to finish.
United will look to be dangerous in the attacking third against the Dynamo, who come into Sunday's game needing a result if it hopes to qualify for the playoffs. With Houston likely to provide high pressure, there may be opportunities for the Black-and-Red on the break.
D.C. will also look for a good overall performance in its final game of the 2013 campaign while celebrating Fan Appreciation Day. Join us at RFK Stadium as we pay tribute to the best fans in MLS with special promotions and giveaways. Buy your tickets now.
