Supplies collected at home game against LA Galaxy on Sept. 14 will be donated to United Reads

Washington, D.C. (September 11, 2013) – D.C. United today announced, through the United Drives program, that it will be collecting children’s books for United for D.C. and its United Reads program on Saturday, Sept. 14 before United’s match against the LA Galaxy at 4 p.m. BUY TICKETS HERE Books collected will be distributed to underserved youth in United for D.C.’s adopted at-risk public elementary schools during the fall United Reads school visits, as well as United for D.C.’s Reading Corners located in waiting areas of two Children’s Health Centers located in Southeast D.C. Serving six D.C. United players and volunteers.

“August’s drive proved to be a tremendous success for United for D.C.,” said the program’s Executive Director Aprile Pritchet. “With the support of our fans, we are happy that we can donate books to thousands of deserving students.”

The United Drives booth is located outside of RFK Stadium’s Gate A and will open an hour and a half prior to kickoff, closing 15 minutes into the first half. Any fan that donates an item will receive a “Buy One, Get One Free” ticket voucher valid for any D.C. United regular-season home game as well as a United promotional item, as a thank you from the club. Donations are accepted in the D.C.
