On a humid and cloudy day, D.C. United hit the training grounds to prepare for the Atlantic Cup finale this Saturday, Aug. 31 (8 p.m. ET; NBC Sports Network).

Iapichino Settling In:

Defender Dennis Iapichino has almost completed his first full week of training with D.C. United, after signing with the Black-and-Red on Aug. 15. The Swiss native has been settling into life in the nation’s capital, and has been working hard to regain his match fitness after being released by previous club the Montreal Impact on Aug. 7.

“It’s been a little bit hard because for two weeks I haven’t trained,” Iapichino said after the session. “But I’m doing well. I do a lot after training, too, to be ready for when the coach puts me in.”

Three Players Depart for Richmond:

D.C. United’s USL PRO affiliate the Richmond Kickers face a testing semifinal matchup on Saturday, Aug. 31 at home to the Charlotte Eagles, and three Black-and-Red players have made the trip to southern Virginia to prepare for the game. Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra, defender Conor Shanosky and forward Michael Seaton have been regulars for the Kickers this season on loan from D.C. United, and will be looking for another good performance at City Stadium on Saturday.

Last Saturday, the Kickers defeated the Dayton Dutch Lions 1-0 in the quarters, with Shanosky and Dykstra going the full 90 minutes while Seaton made a substitute appearance. The clean sheet for Dykstra was nothing new as the VCU product became USL PRO's 2013 GAA champion, averaging 0.863 goals against per game.
