Promising, new talent to take the pitch

If you’re coming to RFK tomorrow night or watching the match on ESPN2/ESPN Deportes, you will see lots of new, promising faces take the pitch. All three of United’s newest signings, Jared Jeffrey, Luis Silva and Collin Martin will be available for selection for the friendly, in addition to Homegrown product Michael Seaton.

“I’m very excited, and so is my mom,” said Seaton, only 17-years-old. “She was like, ‘Oh, my baby’s going to play!’”

The talented, young forward has taken full advantage of his playing time with United’s USL PRO affiliate the Richmond Kickers, scoring four goals thus far.

“When I get my opportunities, I finish them,” said Seaton. “I don’t shoot a lot, that’s something I need to work on, but when I do get a chance to shoot, I finish it.”

That composure and ability to capitalize on chances is something much more experienced players struggle with, yet with the Kickers, Seaton seems to be playing beyond his years. And although United’s newest homegrown player, Collin Martin, is only 18-years-old, Seaton feels a lot younger than him, explaining while Martin is “the new guy” Seaton called himself "the baby of the team.”

Despite being only 17, Seaton is self-aware and understands what he needs to improve to get to that next level.

“I need to work on taking people on, shooting more and being a leader…I need to learn to keep going even if I’m having a bad game.”

With the help of the DCU coaching staff and players, as well as the Kickers organization, Seaton has plenty of resources and time to learn and grow.
