By the Numbers: D.C. United vs. Toronto FC
Dwayne De Rosario netted one goal today courtesy of a penalty kick called when Nick DeLeon was fouled in the Toronto FC box. This marks the 7th goal De Rosario has netted against former team TFC and the 23rd against all four former teams in MLS.
Two of D.C. United’s newest members, Alain Rochat and Sainey Nyassi earned their first starts for the Black-and-Red. Rochat played all 90 minutes of the match at both left back and center mid, while Nyassi featured for 61 minutes.
D.C. United looked energized in the beginning of the match, pulling ahead of TFC 1-0. With 11 attempts on goal, the attack looked to be hitting its stride and finding its rhythm.
“It looked like we had some energy," said defender Brandon McDonald. “We were continuing with how we started against Philadelphia on Wednesday, which was a good effort.”
