By the Numbers: May 11 at Dallas
On Saturday night, amidst fresh young faces, United's veteran captain reached a new milestone.
In late August of last year, Dwayne De Rosario joined the century club when he netted his 100th career goal against the New York Red Bulls. Finding the 101st goal took some time, however, as DeRo suffered a few injuries late in 2012 and early this season. But on Saturday night, a freekick opportunity presented itself and the veteran captain stepped up and slammed home the shot, breathing life into a young team just before the half.
Five starters at Dallas were not in the previous starting lineup on Wednesday in DC. Led by goalkeeper Joe Willis, other fresh faces included Ethan White, James Riley, Nick DeLeon, and Casey Townsend. On the effectiveness of the lineup changes, head coach Ben Olsen said, "They looked like a team that cared and wanted to dig themselves out of the situation they were in."
Chris Korb is the lone player on the Black-and-Red to have started and finished each of the ten matches this season. Korb has played 900 minutes in 2013, which is 17 minutes more than Perry Kitchen who was subbed out of the March 23 match and 90 minutes more than Bill Hamid and Dejan Jakovic, who have each missed one match.
