2012's Best: Tweets
In 2012, D.C. United players used Twitter to express their fan appreciation, frustration and excitement. The social network is an outlet for players to connect with fans and friends. Below, we looked through a year's worth of Tweets and picked some of our favorites:
After scoring his 100th career goal, Dwayne De Rosario had this to say:

On April 22, Chris Pontius scored his first career hat trick in a 4-1 victory over rivals the New York Red Bulls. Later he thanked the support of fans:

After receiving a red card in a playoff match at New York, Bill Hamid coined a new rallying cry for United fans during his post-game interview. The phrase, "they can't hold us back" quickly got it's own Twitter hashtag:

The playoff series between D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls was full of drama this year. Between game date and location changes, United fans stuck it out until the end. Dejan Jakovic expressed his appreciation and awe at the overwhelming amount of support:
