At Wednesday night’s annual ESPYS award show, Dwayne DeRosario found himself mixing it up with some of the biggest names insports.  The reigning MLS MVP posedfor pictures with Julius Erving and found time to congratulate fellow Canadianicon Steve Nash on his recent move to the Los Angeles Lakers.  The celebrity shoulder-rubbing wasn’tlimited to athletes either; as De Rosario kicked it with famed hip-hop artistSwizz Beatz at the red carpet event.

But one interaction stood out above the rest.

"I met RG3," De Rosario said of his encounter with RobertGriffin III, the young man tasked with – and expected to – restore glory toWashington’s otherfootball team.  "He was like ‘Hey, you are the cat from DCU’.  It was cool, two Washington guys [hanging out].  I wished him all the best with theRedskins this year."

At the awards show itself, De Rosario sat next to NBA - andreality television - star Lamar Odom, who United’s captain noted was a "reallyfun guy".

"It’s nice to meet these guys in that environment," said DeRosario.  "It’s outside of the day-to-day so everyone is more easy and approachable in that situation.  We are all pro athletes and so we havea mutual respect for one another."

Though De Rosario couldn’t beat out Los Angeles Galaxysuperstar David Beckham for Best MLS Player honors, he didn’t exactly return toWashington empty-handed.

Apparently, the ESPY gift bag left little to be desired.

"Oh man, it had everything in it," DeRo said with asmile.  "Xbox, hotel stays, hairproducts, car sound systems, you name it."
