RFK Stadium to host U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup Qualifier vs. Costa Rica

Washington, D.C. (February 11, 2009) – D.C. United, in conjunction with the U.S. Soccer Federation, today announced RFK Stadium will host the U.S. Men’s National Team on October 14 in a World Cup qualification match versus Costa Rica. Kickoff time and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

Last year, RFK Stadium hosted a Semifinal Round World Cup Qualifier between the United States and Cuba, which saw the U.S. advance to the final round of qualifying with a 6-1 win. The game took place on October 11 in front of 20,293 fans. RFK Stadium has hosted 18 total U.S. Men’s National Team games, putting together a record of 11-3-4 dating back to 1977 - more U.S. wins than any stadium in the world. The average attendance for U.S. games held at RFK Stadium is 30,526.
