Jeff Curtin retires

We had some sad news today, as defender Jeff Curtin has decided to hang up his boots and retire. The decision was made in large part because the 24-year has dealt with a number of injuries over his three-year MLS career. Curtin was signed by United after being selected in a waiver draft on March 4 and saw time in a single reserve game, playing 45 minutes in the team's 3-2 win over Columbus on April 18.

Curtin was originally drafted by the Chicago Fire in the second round (14th overall) of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft after four years at Georgetown University. For two years, he and his older brother Jim were teammates in Chicago. The elder Curtin now plays for Chivas USA.

Jeff was nothing but nice during his brief stay here and we all wish him the best as he looks to the next step.
