Monday news & notes

  • Numero uno: As Steven Goff reported yesterday, Justin Moose has indeed made his way to Vancouver where he will spend some time training with the Whitecaps, of United Soccer League's First Division (USL-1). The midfielder is simply exploring the possibility of playing for our Northern friends and nothing official has yet been determined.  Moose will see a couple of familiar faces in Nicholas Addlery and Jay Nolly, both of whom played for the Black-and-Red last year. They both signed with Vancouver during the off-season and figure to play prominent roles with the team.

  • Numero dos: Santino Quaranta suffered a broken hand in Saturday's 4-1 win over Toronto FC. The midfielder/forward will not miss any time, but will wear a protective cast in the coming weeks.

  • Numero tres: Pachuca arrives in the District this afternoon, following a 3-1 win over Club America yesterday. They may train this evening, depending on the weather.

  • Numero cuatro: Want to own a piece of United history? The club's first-ever designated player. Marcelo Gallardo, made his MLS debut on March 29 in Kansas City versus the Wizards. Despite a 2-0 loss, the midfielder was named the Man of the Match by votes cast on dcunited.com. His jersey is now up for bid with all proceeds going to the club's non-profit arm, United for D.C. Bid now or forever regret it.
