Clyde Simms entry into MLS was anything but ordinary. The defensive midfielder, who graduated from East Carolina University in 2003, went undrafted in the MLS SuperDraft. Simms joined the Richmond Kickers in 2004, and was called into the US National Team in 2005. The call-up would eventually shine a spotlight on the budding star, and in 2005 Simms signed with D.C. United.
From 2005-2011, the midfielder represented the Black-and-Red in 185 games, notching three goals and contributing with seven assists. Simms was a staple for the team who won the Supporters Shied in 2006 and 2007 and the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2008. Congratulations Clyde on a long and successful professional career!
This morning, D.C. United and US Men's National Team striker Eddie Johnson joined Extra Time Radio. Listen to his first-hand accounts from the USMNT's tour of Brazil, and his thoughts on his potential role at the World Cup in June.
When asked about the trade to D.C. United, Johnson expressed, "I'm excited to be playing for coach Ben Olsen, a guy who is a winner at the end of the day."
As the sun sets in Bradenton, D.C. United wraps up the first full day of training in Florida. The team put in a full day, with a session in the morning and one later in the afternoon.
“Day one of training was great," Homegrown newcomer Jalen Robinson said, "I’m just excited to be here and get after it and get to know my new teammates better. I don’t know many people except for the academy guys, so getting to know everyone and build that team chemistry is important to me.”

D.C. United Homegrown forward Michael Seaton is currently training with Inter Milan's Primavera, Inter's oldest Academy team comprised of players ages 17-20. Seaton, who was on loan with the Richmond Kickers for most of his first MLS season, looks forward to every opportunity to improve and develop.
Seaton, whose first touch for the First Team resulted in an assist in an international friendly vs. Chivas de Guadalajara, continues to impress and grow in front of his home crowd and hometown. Getting a chance to train with Inter's Academy is another chance for the 17-year-old to hone his skill at a high level.
Check back to dcunited.com soon for a Q&A with Seaton.
