Join the best sports team in DC in making our community a better place. D.C. United is committed to making a difference in the community by actively encouraging volunteerism. Through United Builds, the D.C. United staff, players and fans work together on community projects benefiting a variety of nonprofit organizations. The program is designed for those who take the time out of their busy schedule to give back to the community.
D.C. United kicked off 2009 in the community, by volunteering at the Dinner Program for Homeless Women. Player, Ben Olsen, D.C. United staff and their wives joined together to serve food on January 12 to homeless women and their children.
On March, 15, D.C. United held a Bone Marrow Drive to help Marcia Williams, wife of Real Salt Lake player, Andy Williams, find a match. Marcia was diagnosed with a rare from of Leukemia in July, 2008. More than 100 D.C. United fans, players and staff members were tested for marrow.
Before the season begins on March 22, D.C. United will participate in the Sun Trust National Marathon by having a water station. While thousands of athletes run 26.2 miles at 7am, we will be cheering them on at the water stop at mile 13.
