DOUG HICKS - Chief Marketing Officer
As D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer, Doug Hicks oversees all club communications, promotional and branding initiatives, while managing the internal and external message and scope of all business matters. Having joined United’s front office as the Vice President of Communications in 2001, Hicks has led all community and public relations, broadcasting and digital media initiatives since that time. In 2009, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President, Marketing Communications, adding marketing and merchandising efforts to his collective focus.
Acknowledging the quality relationships built with local and national media, Major League Soccer honored Hicks’ efforts four consecutive years (2004-2007) with the Team Public Relations Award. United has also earned two League community relations honors under his supervision.
Hicks has served on the United for D.C. Board of Directors since 2002 and as an adjunct professor in the Georgetown Sports Industry Management program since 2010. His 20-year professional career also includes four seasons with the Washington Bullets (NBA) and three with the Washington Capitals (NHL).
Hicks attended James Madison University before finishing his studies at George Mason University. He and his wife Carrie reside in Arlington, VA with their sons Jozy and Skyler.
