Washington, D.C. (November 30, 2009) - D.C. United and its charitable arm, United for D.C., will open its holiday auction on Cyber Monday, November 30 via dcunited.com. Soccer fans will be able to bid on exclusive items unavailable for purchase anywhere else, with proceeds going to United’s charity. The auction will provide the perfect opportunity to get a jump-start on holiday shopping while supporting the many programs of United for D.C.

Washington, D.C. (November 30, 2009) - D.C. United today announced plans for the club’s annual Holiday Equipment Sale. Set for Saturday, December 5 from 12 to 4 p.m., the event will be held at the VW Lounge in RFK Stadium and will feature authentic D.C. United team-issued gear. All proceeds from the sale will benefit United’s charitable arm, United for D.C., which advances opportunities for economically, physically and mentally disadvantaged youth of the greater Washington D.C. area.

United en el Draft de Expansión 2009 de la Major League Soccer.  Philadelphia seleccionó a un jugador de 10 de los 15 otros equipos en la Liga. Washington, D.C. (November 25, 2009) - The Philadelphia Union today selected D.C. United midfielder Andrew Jacobson in the 2009 Major League Soccer Expansion Draft. Philadelphia selected one player each from 10 of the 15 other MLS teams. Each of the 15 teams was allowed to protect 11 players, leaving all others unprotected and available for selection by the Union.

“We are disappointed to have lost Andrew in the expansion draft,” said United General Manager Dave Kasper. “He is a good young player with an excellent future and we wish him the best of luck in Philadelphia.”

Uno de los jugadores más populares en la historia de United, el mediocampista ganó ocho trofeos con D.C., incluyendo dos Copas MLS (1999 & 2004). Fue nombrado al equipo de las Estrellas de la MLS en dos ocasiones (1998 & 1999), el Novato del Año de la MLS en 1998, el Jugador Más Valioso de la Copa MLS 1999, el Humanitario del Año USSF en el 2003 y al Onceno Ideal de la MLS en el 2007.

Washington, D.C. (November 24, 2009) – D.C. United midfielder Ben Olsen today announced his retirement from professional soccer. Arguably the most popular player in United history, the midfielder won eight total trophies while in DC, including two MLS Cups (1999 & 2004). He was a two-time All-Star (1998 & 1999), the 1998 MLS Rookie of the Year, the 1999 MLS Cup MVP, the 2003 USSF Humanitarian of the Year and was named to the MLS Best XI in 2007.
