D.C. United today announced that tickets are now available to the general public for all Road to Brazil matches that will take place across the United States from May 29 to June 7 when six countries make final preparations just days prior to heading to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
D.C. United today announced that defender Conor Shanosky has undergone surgery on his left wrist. Dr. Fine and Dr. Rozmaryn of The Orthopaedic Center in Washington, D.C., performed the surgery to repair a fractured left radius in his wrist. He is expected to miss one week.
The D.C. United Academy teams played the Richmond Kickers this past weekend in their first home games of the season. The U-18s and U-16s both put in impressive multiple goal performances, while the U-14s were unable to score in its 1-0 defeat to the Kickers.
D.C. United today launched its new digital media guide available at http://www.dcunited.com/media-guide. The club will no longer produce physical copies of its media guide as it has in previous seasons. Media members can find the media guide on the home page under the “club” tab on the right side of the main navigation bar. The club will be updating and adding new information throughout the season. D.C. United today announced Amos Magee as the new U-23 Head Coach and Assistant Coach to the First Team. Magee joins the Black-and-Red after two seasons as the Head Coach of the Portland Timbers Reserves as well as an Assistant Coach for the Timbers First Team.
“Amos has had success at every level of soccer here in the United States,” said D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen. “He brings great knowledge of the game, and we are excited to have him join our staff.”
D.C. United today announced that it has hired Enzo Concina as a new assistant coach. Concina joins the Black-and-Red technical staff from FC Internazionale Milano, but will remain on Inter’s staff as a scout during his time with United. Before joining Inter, Concina was the assistant coach at Napoli in Serie A from 2010-2013.
“Enzo will add a wealth of experience and knowledge to our staff,” said D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen. “We are extremely pleased that he has joined our coaching staff.”
D.C. United today announced that defender Chris Korb has undergone surgery on his left knee. Dr. Ken Fine of The Orthopedic Center in Washington, D.C., performed an arthroscopic procedure to repair an articular cartilage in the knee. He is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
D.C. United and DC Brau Brewing Company, LLC, announced that the public release of the 12 oz. can for D.C. United’s themed beer, The Tradition, will take place on March 8 before the Black-and-Red’s Home Opener against the Columbus Crew at 7 PM at RFK Stadium.
D.C. United has announced that Mike Schoenbrun has been named the club’s Chief Revenue Officer. Schoenbrun, who joined D.C. United in January 2013 as Vice President of Development and Partnerships, takes charge of all media, marketing and commercial revenues, including retail, sponsorship, corporate partnerships and ticket sales.
D.C. United has announced the naming of Tom Hunt as the club’s new Chief Operating Officer. Hunt assumes the reins from Michael Williamson, who has been named Chief Financial Officer of D.C. United sister club F.C. Internazionale Milano.
