D.C. United today announced that the club will face the Chicago Fire in the semifinals of the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will take place at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Black-and-Red advanced to the semifinal round – its first appearance in this stage of the competition since 2010 – by defeating the New England Revolution tonight by a score of 3-1. Chicago, meanwhile, eliminated Orlando City SC (USL PRO) from Open Cup contention by capturing a 5-1 win tonight.
D.C. United and forward Rafael today announced that the two have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. The Brazilian international appeared in seven matches (four starts) this season, logging 331 minutes and notching one goal.

D.C. United today announced, through United Drives, that the program will collect donations of gently used sports equipment for Leveling the Playing Field on Saturday, June 29 before United’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Leveling the Playing Field is a charity that gives underprivileged children the chance to enjoy athletic involvement. The organization collects donations of sports equipment from colleges, county recreation departments, families and individual donors throughout the nation. The equipment will be collected when D.C. United hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Washington, D.C. (June 20, 2013) – D.C. United today announced that defender/midfielder Alain Rochat has been named to the EA SPORTS™ FIFA 13 Ultimate Team of the Week, which honors a select group of global players each week for their high level of play.
Washington D.C. (June 5, 2013) – D.C. United and the Stafford Area Soccer Association (Stafford Soccer) – in conjunction with adidas – today announced an affiliate agreement, the fifth of its kind for D.C. United and a youth soccer club. Under the affiliation agreement, Stafford Soccer will serve as a source for D.C. United in identifying and developing the top youth talent in the region. United will share its coaching resources and will work with Stafford Soccer to follow its training curriculum and system of play.
Washington, D.C. (June 4, 2013) – D.C. United today announced that its nonprofit arm, United for D.C., will hold its “Spring Kick” Soccer Tournament tomorrow (Wednesday, June 5), which will mark the end of the spring season of United Soccer Club (USC). The tournament will involve all children, ages 6-12, who participated in USC this spring. Washington, D.C. (May 29, 2013) – D.C. United today announced that the club has waived midfielder Marcos Sánchez.

Sánchez, a native of Panama City, Panama, joined United on Feb. 26 on loan from Tauro FC (Panama). The Panamanian international appeared in nine matches (six starts) for the Black-and-Red.
D.C. United today announced that midfielder Lewis Neal has undergone an adductor release procedure to the right groin and a laparoscopic abdominal repair to the lower right abdominals. The operations were performed by surgical specialist Dr. L. Michael Brunt of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. The timeframe of Neal’s return is 6-8 weeks.
