The U-18’s had a strong performance on Saturday as they hosted the McLean academy. The team dominated possession throughout the entire match, but went into the half with a score of 0-0. Just after the break, in the 62nd minute, McLean opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead on the home side. The Black-and-Red academy squad continued to push and fight for an equalizer and the goal came in the 82nd minute when Mike Seaton (Capitol Heights, Maryland) headed in a cross from Chike Nwaezeapu (Washington D.C./Maret School).
D.C. United’s U-16 academy squad was in action this weekend against the McLean academy at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, Virginia. The game saw that U-16’s go down early by a score of 1-0 after conceding a goal on a counter-attack.
D.C. United U-18 Academy product Suliaman Dainkeh is returning home after being selected for an 11-day European Training Camp with the U-18 Men’s National Team. Throughout the 11-day camp, the squad faced off against some of the best competition in Europe, including top academy teams and the Netherland’s National Team.

D.C. United announced today that player/assistant coach Josh Wolff underwent a microdiscectomy to repair a lower back disc herniation. The successful surgery was done yesterday by Dr. Steven Hughes, a back specialist at Commonwealth Orthopaedics. The timeframe of his return is unknown at this point.
Wolff, a Major League Soccer and U.S. Men’s National Team veteran, has played in nine games (one start) throughout the 2012 campaign logging 223 minutes. In March, Wolff began serving as a player/assistant coach.

D.C. United came out strong in their second USSDA league match, scoring three unanswered goals in the first 30 minutes against Virginia Rush. United preserved its 3-0 lead throughout the match by holding off several Rush attacks with solid defending and strong goalkeeping.

Throughout the 2012 Major League Soccer season, D.C. United collects items at select home games to benefit pre-determined non-profit organizations within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. During the month of September, United for D.C. – D.C. United’s charitable arm – will collect new school supplies to benefit its six adopted D.C.
