The Argentine midfielder requested the release, citing his desire to continue his playing career in his home country. Last season, Gallardo scored four goals and recorded three assists in League play, though injuries limited him to just 15 League games (14 starts).

The match, previously scheduled against the San Jose Earthquakes, is set for a 7:30 p.m. start. Washington, D.C. (January 22, 2009) – D.C. United announced today the club is set to loan defender Gonzalo Peralta to Union Sante Fe of the Argentine Second Division. Due to the loan, the 28-year old will not return to United for the 2009 season. Per club and League policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.

The workshop, held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va., will kick off with a coaching clinic presentation by United Head Coach Tom Soehn from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by a welcome reception.
