Washington, D.C. (April 13, 2009) - D.C. United announced today it will host a College Night on April 17th when the New England Revolution visit RFK Stadium. Student groups and organizations may purchase advance tickets for $15 by noon Friday and sit adjacent to United supporters’ groups, La Barra Brava and Screaming Eagles.

Washington, D.C. (April 13, 2009) - D.C. United players Ben Olsen and Devon McTavish will be at the White House today as part of the Annual Easter Egg Roll. Olsen will be reading to children at 2:45 p.m. and playing soccer at the sports court at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, McTavish will be at the sports court at 2:15 p.m. and reading to kids later at 3:30 p.m. Full appearance information is detailed below.

Through its partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the spring session will see an expansion to three new sites. United for D.C. and the U.S. Soccer Foundation work together to support their missions to promote youth soccer in economically disadvantaged urban communities.

On the second half

We talked a lot about the way we’d been starting 2nd halves, you always look at crucial times of the games and the good starts – ending a half, starting a half. The first half wasn’t good enough soccer-wise, so we talked about how we’re going to have the energy, we addressed some of the concerns as far as our shape. I think it worked, I thought we came out with a little more life, and obviously scoring early in the second half was a direct effect of it.

United announced today plans to continue the 2009 season of United Drives by collecting baby essentials - items such as diapers, baby wipes, bottles, wash cloths, rattles and receiving blankets - before home matches during the month of April. All items collected at the April 4 and 17 games will benefit the Prince George’s Child Resource Center, Inc. Each month during the 2009 Major League Soccer season, D.C. United will collect items at every home game to benefit pre-determined non-profit organizations within the Washington, D.C. area.

United Academy will face youth sides from some of the biggest international clubs, including Spain’s Real Madrid, as part of the third annual Tiffany Trophy Cup, held in Washington DC from April 4-11. The U16 squad will face the Spanish powerhouse’s youth team on Saturday, April 4 at 4:30 p.m., taking the field at RFK Stadium before the first team faces the Houston Dynamo.

United's “La Super Copa”, a single elimination full side 11-v-11 invitational soccer tournament, will kick off this Saturday, April 4th at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field. The tournament draw was held last night at El Puente de Oro Restaurant in Langley Park, MD, with a special appearance made by United forward Luciano Emilio. La Super Copa is presented by Volkswagen, Cox Communications and DC Lottery.
