D.C. United today announced that forward Maicon Santos was selected by the Chicago Fire in Stage One of the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft.
“We would like to thank Maicon for his time with D.C. United, and wish him the best of luck in the future,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper.
Santos was obtained on January 18, 2012 from FC Dallas. Santos featured for D.C. United in 26 games this season (16 starts), tallying seven goals and three assists.
D.C. United today announced that a special “Holiday Ticket Package” is now on sale. The offer, which starts as low as $104, will include four 2013 regular-season games: the home opener, a match against the defending MLS Cup Champions LA Galaxy, a game versus the New York Red Bulls and the regular-season finale – fan appreciation night. D.C. United announced today the club has declined options on four players, including defenders Mike Chabala and Emiliano Dudar, midfielder Stephen King, and forward Maicon Santos. Chabala, King, and Santos are all eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.
Mike Chabala came to D.C. United on August 9, 2012 from the Portland Timbers and made three appearances (two starts) for the club in 2012. The 28-year-old’s Black-and-Red debut occurred on August 11, 2012 in a 2-1 loss to first-place Eastern Conference club Sporting Kansas City.
D.C. United today announced plans for the club’s annual holiday equipment sale. Set for Saturday, December 15 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., the event will be held inside RFK Stadium’s VW Lounge and will feature authentic D.C. United team-issued gear.

This weekend, the D.C. United U-18’s and U-16’s travel south to Bradenton, Fla., to participate in the annual Development Academy Winter Showcase. With most coaches from top colleges and universities in attendance, United’s Academy players will have another opportunity to gain additional national exposure. Both squads will match up against the North Carolina Fusion, FC Dallas and Chivas USA in their respective age divisions.

D.C. United announced today that midfielder Chris Pontius was named to the 2012 MLS Best XI side. The honor is voted on by MLS players, MLS club management, and media and is based solely on regular-season performance.
D.C. United and midfielder Branko Boskovic today announced that the two have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Boskovic was an integral part of D.C. United’s 2012 run to the Eastern Conference Final, starting all four playoff games.
"I have had some private family matters for several months now," said Boskovic. "It’s a difficult decision for me after a very good season here. I think that we will get better and better, but now I must leave. I wish all the best to this team and this club. This city is going to be my heart in the future."
D.C. United announced today that the reserve match at Toronto FC, originally scheduled for October 6, has been cancelled.
D.C. United’s reserve squad finished the 2012 Reserve League campaign 3-5-1, with wins coming against Toronto FC, the New York Red Bulls, and Philadelphia Union. The 2012 Reserve League season highlighted the clubs continual focus on development, as 14 different D.C. United academy products saw action in the squad.
D.C. United announced today the club has signed defender Dejan Jakovic to a new contract. The 27-year old played in 23 games this season (starting 21) and registered his first MLS goal in United’s 3-2 win over the New England Revolution on May 26. Per club and League policy, exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.
