U-16’s feeling confident heading into 2012 USSDA National Championship
D.C. United’s U-16 Academy Team has advanced to the 2012 USSDA National Championship in Houston, Texas after finishing undefeated in their playoff run in Dallas, Texas. The team finished in first place in Group 6, with victories against Concorde Fire and Colorado Rush, and a draw with the LA Galaxy. The team currently has an overall record of 17-7-6 (6-2-4 divisional record) and is led in scoring by Michael Seaton with 14 goals (Capitol Heights, Md.) and Nigel Robinson with 13 (Woodbridge, VA).

Pontius named to Olsen’s MLS All-Star game roster
D.C. United announced today that midfielders Dwayne De Rosario and Chris Pontius were named to the MLS All-Star game roster. The two will join the team, coached by D.C, United Head Coach Ben Olsen, to take on UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea FC on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, PA (live on ESPN2).
Olsen, who had final oversight on the gameday roster, selected all eleven players chosen through the fan vote and built a dynamic, balanced roster loaded with the League’s top talent.
Trio loaned out for weekend matches
D.C. United announced today that Long Tan, Ethan White, and Andrew Dykstra will be loaned out to United Soccer League (USL) sides for one match this weekend. Forward Long Tan (Dalian, China) and Defender Ethan White (Kensington, Maryland) will join the Richmond Kickers for their USL league match when they host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday, July 13th, at 7:00 p.m. United Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra (Woodbridge, Virginia) will join the Charleston Battery for a home matchup against the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday, July 14th, at 7:30 p.m.

Erick Thohir and Jason Levien purchase ownership stake in D.C. United
D.C. United announced today that Erick Thohir and Jason Levien have joined Will Chang as co-owners of the operating rights to D.C. United of Major League Soccer (MLS). Thohir and Levien will serve as Managing Partners of the club. Chang has been involved with the ownership of D.C. United since being a part of a group to purchase the club January 8, 2007. He assumed a full ownership stake May 21, 2009.
Dwayne De Rosario chosen by fans for 2012 MLS All-Star Game First XI
Major League Soccer announced today that D.C. United midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been selected to the All-Star First XI by fans through Twitter, text messages, and online submissions at MLSsoccer.com. The ballot consisted of six players from each club, as chosen by a panel of media members. De Rosario will join the MLS All-Stars, coached by D.C. United’s own Ben Olsen on July 25 as they take on Chelsea FC. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, TeleFutura, and in Canada on TSN and RDS starting at 8:30 p.m. ET.
D.C. United ficha a Long Tan
D.C. United anunció hoy que el club ha adquirido a Long Tan, delantero
de Vancouver Whitecaps FC, por una selección en la primera ronda del Draft
Suplementario de 2015. Tan se unió a los Whitecaps para su temporada inaugural
el 11 de marzo de 2011, proveniente del FC Tampa Bay de la liga USSF D-2 Pro.
Tan, oriundo de Dalian, China, es el primer jugador chino en jugar en la MLS.
Branko Boskovic renueva contrato con D.C. United
D.C. United anunció hoy que el club le ha renovado el contrato al
mediocampista Branko Boskovic. El jugador de 32 años está en su tercera
temporada con el United, luego de unirse al club en el 2010. Originalmente
contratado como Jugador Franquicia, Boskovic ya no será clasificado como tal en
su nuevo contrato. Por pólizas del club y de la Liga, los términos específicos
del contrato no fueron difundidos.
