Washington, D.C. (January 23, 2009) – D.C. United today announced the 2009 MLS season home opener will be played against the Chicago Fire on March 28 at RFK Stadium. The match, previously scheduled against the San Jose Earthquakes, is set for a 7:30 p.m. start. Washington, D.C. (January 22, 2009) – D.C. United announced today the club is set to loan defender Gonzalo Peralta to Union Sante Fe of the Argentine Second Division. Due to the loan, the 28-year old will not return to United for the 2009 season. Per club and League policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.

The workshop, held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va., will kick off with a coaching clinic presentation by United Head Coach Tom Soehn from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by a welcome reception. As part of the reception, United will do a special video presentation documenting its 2009 Youth Soccer Group Activities.
Washington, D.C. (January 16, 2009) – D.C. United announced former Black-and-Red defender Jeff Agoos was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. One of the most accomplished defenders in League history, Agoos was selected to the Hall of Fame with 67.9 percent of the votes. An induction ceremony for Agoos and two-time Women’s World Champion Joy Fawcett will be held on August 2 at the Hall of Fame in Oneonta, NY.
Washington, D.C. (January 15, 2009) – D.C. United selected five players in today’s 2009 MLS SuperDraft, held at the St. Louis Convention Center in St. Louis, MO. With the sixth and seventh picks overall, United selected defender Rodney Wallace and forward Chris Pontius in the first round. In the second and third rounds, the Black-and-Red followed up with three more picks – goalkeeper Milos Kocic, defender Lyle Adams and midfielder/forward Brandon Barklage.
