Washington, D.C. (April 1, 2009) - D.C. United announced today that Jaime Moreno is teaming up with MASE Training to host a soccer camp during the summer of 2009. Former Redskin and MASE Training President, Eddie Mason, will partner with the MLS leading goal-scorer to host the first ever Jaime Moreno Soccer Camp.

United's “La Super Copa”, a single elimination full side 11-v-11 invitational soccer tournament, will kick off this Saturday, April 4th at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field. The tournament draw was held last night at El Puente de Oro Restaurant in Langley Park, MD, with a special appearance made by United forward Luciano Emilio. La Super Copa is presented by Volkswagen, Cox Communications and DC Lottery.

As part of the 2009 Nothing But Nets campaign, Ben Olsen, Anthony Peters and Marc Burch will guest bartend at Garrett’s of Georgetown on Wednesday in an effort to raise money for the campaign. United will participate in a four-team challenge to see which club can collect the most funds for Nothing But Nets during a month-long Major League Soccer initiative that culminates on World Malaria Day on April 25. Created by the United Nations Foundation, Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. A $10 donation goes directly toward the purchase, distribution and education about the proper use of a long-lasting, insecticide-treated bed net, which can prevent Malaria.

Kickoff Luncheon raises more than $20,000 for United for D.C.

Washington, D.C. (March 28, 2009) - D.C. United and its non-profit arm, United for D.C., today announced proceeds from the Seventh Annual Kickoff Luncheon totaled more than $20,000. The Kickoff Luncheon, featured Dave Johnson, television voice of D.C. United, as the host and Franklin Foer, editor of The New Republic and author of How Soccer Explains the World, as the keynote speaker. United President Kevin Payne and co-managing partner Victor MacFarlane also spoke at the fundraiser held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at the National Harbor.

Washington, D.C. (March 27, 2009) - D.C. United announced today that it acquired the rights to midfielder John DiRaimondo through the waiver draft. DiRaimondo was most recently with the Colorado Rapids, spending two seasons with the club, before being released on March 25, 2009.
