United announced today that the Trinidad & Tobago National Team has called up defender Avery John to play in a pair of World Cup Qualifier games on June 6 vs. Costa Rica and June 10 vs. Mexico. John will report to the National Team immediately after D.C. United’s League game against the New England Revolution on May 30.
Washington, D.C. (May 28, 2009) - D.C. United announced today that it will play host to an international friendly with legendary Spanish club Real Madrid. The match, to be held at FedExField, will take place on Sunday, August 9 at 3 p.m. ET. As a result, the previously scheduled Major League Soccer match against the Kansas City Wizards will be moved to September 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Season Update: The D.C. United youth teams spent their Memorial Day weekend on the road, as the U16 and U18 squads traveled to Sarasota, FL to participate in the 2009 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase. The U18s found great success during the three-game trip, conceding just one goal while compiling a 3-0-0 record. The U16s, however, could not carry the momentum from an opening game victory, dropping the next two contests en route to a 1-2-0 mark.
Washington, D.C. (May 28, 2009) - D.C. United announced today details of the team’s Tenth Annual Armed Forces and Veterans Appreciation Day. The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 4, is held to honor all current and former military personnel and their families. The game against the New York Red Bulls is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

An event to recognize those who have made the program a success will be held at the Embassy of Costa Rica on Thursday, May 28, at 5:30-7:30 p.m. United rookie Rodney Wallace, who has Costa Rican roots, will attend the event.
