On the game
I thought we fought really hard. I thought we made the game. I thought we created enough. Obviously, in the final third we were lacking a little bit. I thought, especially given the conditions, we could’ve put some more stuff on frame and maybe made it harder on Ricketts to make a couple saves and pick up just some scraps and just get a cheap one.

Overall thoughts on the game:
“We had quite a few mistakes on the similar part of the field that gave them too many opportunities and they capitalized, especially the first goal… We had chances ourselves but their keeper came up with a couple of big saves, especially on the cross when he saved a diving header. Marathon played similar to what we thought they would – they counter-attacked. We had our share of the play and a share of the chances and when you’re on the road we need to finish our chances.”
WASHINGTON, DC (August 17, 2009) - D.C. D.C. UNITED COACH TOM SOEHN
Thoughts on the game…
“We have a mentality at home that we’re going to do all the little things to win games and then on the road we thrown that all away and think that’s going to come easy for us. We think because we’ve got talent that’s enough but it’s not enough so that’s something we have to correct. You know coming off Real Madrid where we did all those little things right and then you come to this game it’s pretty disappointing.”

Washington, D.C. (August 14, 2009) - D.C. United announced today the club has acquired defender David Habarugira. Habarugira completed a trial with the team earlier this summer and will join the Black-and-Red this weekend.
