Washington, D.C. (March 17, 2009) – Alba Galindo, one of the “Senadora” models on Univision’s popular weekly sports show “República Deportiva” (Sports Republic), will be making an appearance this weekend at D.C. United’s tryouts for Sueño MLS 2009 – built by The Home Depot. Alba will be available for pictures and autographs on Saturday, March 21 from 2:30pm – 4:00 p.m. at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
Results from over the weekend: D.C. United’s Academy teams hosted two top local sides this weekend, PDA and Match Fit. For the U18s, the weekend was a successful one as they won both their matches, yet the U16s were unable to attain the same results, drawing against PDA on Saturday and losing against Match Fit on Sunday.
Washington, D.C. (March 12, 2009) – D.C. United announced today the signing of goalkeeper Milos Kocic to a developmental roster spot. A graduate of Loyola College of Maryland, Kocic was selected by the Black-and-Red in the second round (21st overall) of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft on January 15. He will be officially available upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

“We would like to take this opportunity to clear up a misunderstanding reported in this morning’s Washington Post: D.C. United has not changed its position with regard to the financing of our Stadium in Prince George’s County.
Washington, D.C. (March 10, 2009) – D.C. United announced today the club has acquired goalkeeper Josh Wicks from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. The 25 year-old will report to United’s pre-season training camp in Charleston, South Carolina, where the team is competing in the Carolina Challenge Cup.
Washington, D.C. (March 8, 2009) - D.C. United announced today the club will participate in this year’s edition of Sueño MLS 2009 - built by The Home Depot. Tryouts will take place at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22. Among the scouts evaluating talent will be former United star Raúl Díaz Arce and D.C. United Director of Youth Development John Maessner.
The U16 and U18 sides faced local club Baltimore Bays. The U16s came away with a 1-1 draw. Andy Najar scored the only goal in the 78 minute to keep the score even after moving from his right back spot to central midfield, with only 10 minutes left in the match.
Washington, D.C. (March 6, 2009) – D.C. United announced today that single-game tickets for the first five United home matches at RFK Stadium are now on sale. Single-game tickets begin at $22 for seating in the Spectator section, are $30 at the Premium level, $40 at the VIP level, and are available at the Mezzanine level for $50. Single game tickets for the rest of the season will go on sale at a later date
Washington, D.C. (March 6, 2009) – D.C. United announced today that it was teaming up with Soccer Unites Utah and DKMS Americas to host a bone marrow drive to help find a matching donor for Marcia Williams, wife of Real Salt Lake midfielder Andy Williams. The bone marrow drive will be held on Sunday, March 15 at RFK Stadium from 12 to 5 p.m. Former D.C. United and RSL defender Eddie Pope will be present at the drive from 12-1 p.m., while Ben Olsen will also be making an appearance during the day.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 5, 2009) - D.C. United announced today the club’s weekly Spanish-language radio program, “La Tribuna del D.C. United,” will debut for the 2009 season on Wednesday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. on WZHF Continental Radio 1390 AM. “La Tribuna del D.C. United” will air every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. throughout the course of the 2009 Major League Soccer season.
