D.C. United Academy Update: April 29, 2009
U16 & U18 Academy Tryouts: In an effort to identify the best youth players in the Washington D.C. area, the D.C. United Academy will be holding tryouts for the U16 and U18 Academy teams in June. Players trying out for the U16 side must be born on or after Jan. 1, 1993, while the age cutoff date for the U18 squad is on or after Jan. 1, 1991. Tryout sessions will be held at RFK Stadium’s Auxiliary Turf Field and all players must complete the waiver and player registration forms.
D.C. United player appearances: April 29 - April 30
Washington, D.C. (April 28, 2009) - D.C. United players will be making appearances at various events in the community this week. On Wednesday, several players will be helping out with a wheelchair soccer clinic, while goalkeeper Josh Wicks will be in attendance at the DC SCORES Soccer Ball on Thursday. D.C. United signs defender Avery John
Washington, D.C. (April 23, 2009) – D.C. United announced today the club has signed veteran defender Avery John. D.C. waived forward Francis Doe in order to make a roster spot available for the Trinidad and Tobago international. John’s rights were acquired from the New England Revolution in exchange for a conditional draft pick in either the 2010 or 2011 MLS SuperDraft. The 33-year old defender will be available for selection on Sunday, when the Black-and Red travel to New Jersey to battle their Atlantic Cup rivals the New York Red Bulls. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.

D.C. United Academy holds tryouts for U15 and U20 Programs
WASHINGTON, DC (April 21, 2009) - The D.C. United Academy will be holding tryouts for the U15 Academy Training Program and the Super-20 Academy Team. Tryouts will be held the next four Mondays at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Turf Field for both groups.
D.C. United set to host Ladies Night
Washington, D.C. (April 20, 2009) - D.C. United is set to host Ladies Night, an event intended to provide women and their friends with an enjoyable evening out. The club is teaming up with Hot 99.5 to throw a girls night out at RFK Stadium on May 9, prior to the team’s game against Toronto FC. Ladies Night takes place from 6 - 7:45 p.m. on the Capital View Terrace, with kickoff for the game set at 7:30 p.m.

United’s 1-1 tie against the New England Revolution tonight, Jaime Moreno became the first player in MLS history to record 100 goals and 100 assists. His pass in stoppage time to set up Ben Olsen’s goal, gave the Bolivian forward his100th assist. Coupled with his unmatched 122 goals in League play, the feat is yet another accomplishment in Moreno’s long and storied career in Major League Soccer.
