D.C. United spent the ninth day of the "10 Days of Giving" campaign by heading to Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's Annual Holiday Party for disadvantaged youth. D.C. United staff and supporters entertained the guests, served lunch, and provided resources to make the party possible. This was the Black-and-Red's fifth consecutive year of participation in the event. Representatives from DC public schools and non-profit organizations were also in attendance.
D.C. United spent the eighth day of the "10 Days of Giving" campaign by helping it's own charity, United for D.C. Front office staff from the Black-and-Red where at the the Barnes & Noble in Georgetown (Washington, DC) offer gift wrapping services in exchange for donations to United for D.C. Money raised at the event helps the United Reads program.
United staff will make their annual trip to Eleanor Holmes Norton's Holiday party for disadvantaged youth on Tuesday, December 21.
D.C. United completed its seventh day of the "10 Days of Giving" campaign with a visit to The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. United's staff help sort the thousands of donated toys in preparation for the Angel Tree program's toy distribution.
The Salvation Army is still in need of Angels to be adopted, visit salarmydc.org to learn more or adopt.
D.C. United staff head to the Barnes & Noble in Georgetown on Friday, December 10 for the eighth day of volunteering. The Black-and-Red will wrap gifts for customers.
D.C. United completed its sixth day of the "10 Days of Giving" campaign with a return to Bread for the City. During the first visit, United's staff helped prepare "turkey bags" for local community residents. On Wednesday, the Black-and-Red dropped off approximately 900 items of food that were donated by front office staff. Front office staff then stayed to volunteer at Bread for the City's food and clothing programs.
More Turkey! D.C. United partnered with Salvation Army to participate in Safeway's Annual Feast of sharing event at the Washington Convention Center on Wednesday, November 24.
D.C. United and United for D.C. celebrated the end of United Soccer Club's fall season on November 17 and 19 with a tournament at RFK Stadium's Auxiliary Field. Over the two days more than 500 young athletes from the D.C. area participated in soccer matches and other activities designed to promote physical activities and proper nutrition. Each athlete who participated in the United Soccer Club's capstone event received a medal to commemorate their participation in the club's fall season.
D.C United's fourth day of its "10 Days of Giving" was easy as pie. Staff from the Black-and-Red headed out to Eastern Market & Penn Quarter to distribute and sell Thanksgiving pies as part of Food & Friends' Slice of Life fundraiser.
D.C. United spent the second day in its "10 Days of Giving" campaign with the Salvation Army DC. Front office staff went to the Salvation Army's Sherman Avenue location near Columbia Heights to help to distribute bags filled with turkeys, stuffing, and additional sides to families in need. The event included an arts & crafts table and other activities for the volunteers to interact with kids arriving with their parents to pick up the items. The Black-and-Red will return to work with the Salvation Army on Wednesday for Thanksgiving meal service at Safeway's Feast of Sharing!
