D.C. United helps Salvation Army distribute 'turkey bags'

D.C. United spent the second day in its "10 Days of Giving" campaign with the Salvation Army DC. Front office staff went to the Salvation Army's Sherman Avenue location near Columbia Heights to help to distribute bags filled with turkeys, stuffing, and additional sides to families in need. The event included an arts & crafts table and other activities for the volunteers to interact with kids arriving with their parents to pick up the items.  The Black-and-Red will return to work with the Salvation Army on Wednesday for Thanksgiving meal service at Safeway's Feast of Sharing!

D.C. United kicked off the United Builds program’s 10 Days of Giving on Tuesday and Wednesday November 9 and 10 volunteering at Bread for the City. Over 15 D.C. United staff were on site at the Bread for the City Southeast location to participate in their annual Holiday Helpings program to prepare and bag “turkey bags” for distribution to local community residents. Over the two-day period, D.C. United packed close to 700 bags full of food to enable families to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2010) - As part of D.C. United’s continued efforts to serve the greater Washington, DC community and through its United Builds program, the club will once again partner with Volkswagen and MLS W.O.R.K.S. for a Habitat for Humanity build in Silver Spring, MD. This build with Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is the third Habitat for Humanity project D.C. United has participated in this year, also working on build sites in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia.

United’s continued efforts to make positive contributions to the local community, midfielder Christian Castillo will make an appearance at the inauguration of two local amateur soccer leagues, Liga Deportiva Salvadoreña and Liga Continental of Washington, D.C. El señor Jorge Polío fue el feliz ganador del concurso del programa televisivo "Variedades de Washington" que conduce el popular presentador Tony Guzman al hacerse acreedor del premio mayor que incluía una playera de Christian Castillo y dos boletos para presenciar el partido de apertura de local del elenco capitalino este sábado frente a New England Revolution a las 7:30 p.m. en el Estadio RFK. Además, el señor Polío también disfrutó de una cena con sus dos hijos cortesía del Restaurante Atlacatl, uno de los negocios hispanos patraocinadores del D.C. United.

16 equipos, 8 partidos y un solo ganador. La quinta edición del torneo de la Super Copa que organiza D.C. United reunió este fin de semana a los representantes de todos los equipos participantes. La suerte ya está echada y ahora sólo queda esperar que a partir del próximo sábado 3 de abril se vayan produciendo los diferentes encuentros con sus respectivas eliminatorias.

As part of D.C. United’s continued efforts to make appearances in the community, United players and coaches will be fully active in the greater Metropolitan area this week.

Head Coach Curt Onalfo, General Manager Dave Kasper, and eight Black-and-Red players will appear at the Board of Trade Corporate Event on Tuesday, March 23. On Wednesday, March 24 defender Bryan Namoff and goalkeeper Bill Hamid are set to appear at the DC SCORES Soccer Ball at Union Station.
