D.C. United today announced that defender Dejan Jakovic has been named to the 20-player Canada Men’s National Team roster for training camp and two friendlies. Canada will first face Japan on March 22 and then Belarus on March 25, both in Doha, Qatar. The defender will miss the Black-and-Red’s second home match of the season when United plays host to the Columbus Crew on Saturday, March 23 (3:30 ET p.m.; NBC Sports Network).

Dwayne De Rosario and Dejan Jakovic were both in the starting XI for Canada in a 4-0 loss against Denmark today in Tucson, Arizona. Jakovic went the full 90 minutes in the backline while De Rosario - entering his first international match since suffering an MCL injury on Sept. 11, 2012 against Panama - was subbed out in the 60th minute. This was De Rosario's 72nd international cap and Jakovic's 13th.

D.C. United today announced that midfielder Dwayne De Rosario and defender Dejan Jakovic have been called up to the Canada Men’s National Team for training camp and two friendlies on January 26 against Denmark in Tucson, Ariz., and January 29 against the United States in Houston, TX. Both players will be away from January 20-30.

Today, the Canadian Soccer Association announced the list of nominees for the BMO Canadian Players of the Year Award. Among the list was D.C. United midfielder Dwayne De Rosario. The award will be voted on by Canadian media and coaches.

De Rosario appeared in five matches for the Canadian National Team in 2012, notching one goal, a game-winner over Panama in World Cup Qualifying. With 71 total appearances and 20 goals, De Rosario is Canada's all-time leading goal scorer.

Jakovic called up

Defender Dejan Jakovic has been named to the Canadian World Cup qualifying roster for a home matchup in Toronto against Cuba on October 12 and an away matchup with Honduras on October 16 in San Pedro Sula.

Jakovic was previously called up with fellow D.C. United teammate, Dwayne De Rosario, for Canada’s home and away World Cup qualifying matches against Panama in early September.

D.C. United announced today that midfielder Dwayne De Rosario and defender Dejan Jakovic have both been called up to the Canadian Men’s National Team. The two previously were called up for a 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Cuba (6/8/12) and a friendly against the U.S. Men’s National Team (6/3/12).

De Rosario has started all of United’s 20 matches this season, tallying five goals and a League-best 10 assists. While with Canada, De Rosario has scored 19 goals in 69 international appearances.
