150 years ago today, President Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history. The Gettysburg Address was a dedication at the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA, delivered just four and a half months after the Union Army defeated the Confederate Army in the Battle of Gettysburg.

In remembrance of this important day in US history, and the values that Americans hold so dear, Bill Hamid and the U.S. Men's National Team recited the speech today.

In 1996 and 1997, D.C. United's crest was pretty different. The mark, which featured the same key pieces as today's badge, was updated following the 1997 season. Do you remember the logos of the original ten MLS teams? Do you know which teams have not changed since their inception?

On every team, there are those people that you would want by your side during a fight. There are also those few you know would take cover if things got messy. So, who do you think most DCU players want with them if anything ever went down? Who do you think would hide á la Franklin in the above clip from the Replacements? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

It's unbelievably easy to take what we have for granted. For instance: when I'm hungry, I eat. It is that simple. But, for so many others, that is not an option; it's not that simple. We can help, and today, during our First Day of Giving, we did.

Kicking off D.C. United's 10 Days of Giving, a few volunteers from our staff joined Thrive DC at St. Stephen's Church in Northwest to provide meals for homeless and disadvantaged men and women. Additionally, we donated the toiletries from our October United Drives collection and the extra D.C. United Season Ticket Holder blankets.

It was 8 a.m. on a Friday morning. I had pressed snooze twice this morning. Yet, I couldn't have felt more ready for the day. The vibes upon entering the church were contagiously positive and energizing.

After tying my apron and putting on my gloves, I was immediately put to work. Together, we made chicken noodle soup, cabbage stir-fry, salad, toast with butter and began preparing Monday's breakfast. As soon as all the food was set out in the dinning room, including the breakfast burritos donated by DC Central Kitchen, we began serving meals to those in need.

For three hours, we played a small role in feeding the hungry. The gratefulness on the men and women's faces as they worked their way down the line is what it is all about: people helping people. Washingtonians helpings Washingtonians. D.C. United being out in the community, helping to make it just slightly better than it was yesterday.

In 2007, former D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell caught Luciano Emilio on camera singing James Blunt's You're Beautiful. This locker room moment was, um, beautiful? But let's hope that the jams in the locker room this year were a little bit more exciting than James Blunt...

On November 7, 2012, D.C. United and roughly 700 fans traveled to Red Bull Arena in the midst of a nor'easter. The Black-and-Red, who had switched home game schedules with the New York Red Bulls due to hurricane Sandy, was scheduled to face New York in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. But Mother Nature had other plans. The nor'easter was dumping snow, even with all-hands-on-deck (including MLS Commissioner Don Garber) clearing the field became an impossible task.

Ultimately, MLS officials postponed the game until the following night, which meant 700 cold fans had to trek back to DC. But the DCU faithful would not be silenced. Upwards of 500 repeat travelers headed north on I-95 the following day because D.C. United has the best fans in MLS, and they continue to prove it through thick and thin.

United superlatives continue today, this time with a pair of questions that got a bit of a rise out of the team. First we asked what teammate they would not allow to date their sister, followed up by which teammate they would. The answers may surprise you...

Who would you allow to date your sister? Who do you think the team picked? Let us know in the comments section below.
