From the Mayor, to other sports teams and players, to construction cranes, to the Newseum - the District is cheering for D.C. United during its 2012 MLS Cup Playoff run. Today, local indie rockers, The Dismemberment Plan offered their support via an article on their site titled "Why D.C. United is going to win this weekend."

The spirited piece offered four key reasons the Black-and-Red will win on Sunday and advance to the MLS Cup Final at RFK Stadium. "We got this," the article concluded. Read the full article

The band's bass player - and author of the article - Eric Axelson is the most ardent United supporter, but the whole band has been following the team. As they noted via their Twitter account, "[We have] DC United scarves and two soccer balls in the practice space." The band also announced the score of a recent D.C. United match while on stage during the recent Virgin Mobile FreeFest 2012.

As you can see, the finale of their shows resembles the supporters sections:

D.C. United midfielder Andy Najar earned his third cap for the senior Honduras National Team on Wednesday at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, TX. Honduras played Peru to a 0-0 draw in an international friendly.

Najar played 74 minutes, the most he has ever played for the senior team. Interestingly, Boniek Garcia of the Houston Dynamo replaced Najar. D.C. United and Houston will play each other on Sunday night at RFK Stadium in Leg 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Najar is currently serving a two-match suspension from Major League Soccer for his actions during the Eastern Conference semifinal match against the New York Red Bulls on November 3. If United were to advance to the MLS Cup Final, he would be available for selection.

General Manager of Professional Referee Organization clarifies a statement made to NBC Sports Network

PETER WALTON

The Professional Referee Organization (PRO) released a statement today clarifying comments made by PRO GM Peter Walton about a play that occurred in the first half of the 2012 MLS Easter Conference finals.

During half-time, Walton told NBC Sports Network, "Looking at it in real time, I thought the tracking defender [Houston's Luiz Camargo] could have influenced the outcome of that particular play and the benefit of the doubt would go to the defending team in a situation of a denial of a goal scoring opportunity. That's my opinion from seeing it in real time."

Today, Walton said, "In review of that play, my opinion has changed in as much as the defender, which I thought in real time would have influenced the play, clearly was behind the action and therefore the disciplinary sanction should have been a red card for denial of a goal scoring opportunity.

"I made the initial statement on my real time opinion without having the advantage of a replay. Having reviewed the replay, it is clear it ticks all the boxes for a denial of as goal scoring opportunity and a send-off should have been the outcome."
