The Richmond Kickers took on the Harrisburg City Islanders Saturday, May 24th, and D.C. United’s own Andrew Dykstra and Michael Seaton stole the show. Dykstra kept a clean sheet with a stellar nine-save performance, while Seaton notched his second USL PRO goal with a 66th minute finish. Seaton’s goal put the Kickers ahead 2-0.
Ahead of Tuesday’s match up, it seems the Kickers are, as United was, affected by injuries. But the USL PRO side found a way to beat the odds and extend its unbeaten streak to eight games. Dykstra also registered his third shutout of the season. D.C. United faces its USL PRO affiliate Richmond Kickers Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. ET at Richmond City Stadium.

RFK was recently named 15 out of 18 on Travel and Leisure’s list of “America’s Best Stadium Food.” The magazine explains that you can get “hot dogs and nachos” here, but the food at RFK standouts because of the Latin and South American options. Specially mentioned was Logan’s Sausage, known for its El Salvadorian sausage. Additionally, a variety of food trucks are available in Lot 8 prior to home games. The delicious line up usually includes spiedies at Bada Bing, pizza at DC Slices and po’boys at Willie’s Po’Boy.

D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been named to Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Week 12. Hamid came up big on key plays against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday night. A memorable save and crucial stop came in the 39th minute when Hamid denied Graham Zusi from inside the penalty box. Hamid made another point blank save in the 77th minute, denying Sporting Kansas City the go ahead goal.
This marks Hamid’s third MLS honor this season. The young goalkeeper won Save of the Week in Week 1, Player of the Week in Week 3 and can now add Team of the Week for Week 12. Hamid was also selected to EA Sports FIFA 13 Ultimate team of the Week after his stellar performance against the New York Red Bulls on March 16th. The future is bright for the 22-year-old net minder who will join the United States Men’s National Team on May 30th ahead of the June 2nd friendly against Germany at RFK.
What are your thoughts on the addition of New York City FC to MLS? D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls have a storied rivalry built up. Will the 18-year long contention between the two sides grow or perhaps simmer down? Is it possible that the inclusion of another New York team will spark a new and more heated contest?

Each match, D.C. United has important partners and fans perform the ceremonial first kick. On Armed Forces Night the first kick was taken by Jason Pak, a D.C. United fan and longtime soccer player who was injured while serving in Afghanistan. In April, Chris Pontius and James Riley visited Pak at Walter Reed Medical Center where the three formed an instant connection. D.C. United was very excited to have Pak at Armed Forces Night and thanks him and all of the former and current members of the armed forces.
