Each year, adidas releases a new official match ball for MLS, and this year, we're going Brazilian!
The Brazuca, the official match ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup has been given a make-over for MLS play. I tend to like the color update, which are said to represent the heart, "as the ball is the heart of soccer and MLS." MLS match balls are typically green and blue, like the league logo. But this year, it's all about the Black-and-Red!
What do you think of the new design?
The matches have been set. Who will you be cheering for, and which groups do you think have the toughest road to the second round?
As D.C. United prepares for its first match in Indonesia (Friday, December 6, 6:30 a.m. ET), we look back at another offseason trip to an Asian nation. In 1997, as winners of the 1996 MLS Cup, the Black-and-Red was invited to the Sanwa Bank Cup. The Cup, which ran from 1994-1997 was a single-match in which the champions of the J League would go head-to-head with the champions of a foreign league.
United lost to Nagoya Grampus Eight with a final score of 1-3 on March 2, 1997, but the trip marked a historic visit to the J League by the first-ever MLS Cup Champion.
This Thanksgiving, we are most thankful for the fans who continue to stick by us through the good and the bad. Through 18 seasons, 13 trophies, winning records and losing records, the Black-and-Red faithful are our rock. #ThanksToSoccer, we have the best fans in MLS!

On November 21, 1999, D.C. United added its third MLS Cup to the trophy case. For the second time in league history, the Black-and-Red faced the LA Galaxy at Foxboro Stadium for the premier title. United ultimately defeated the Galaxy 2-0 with a goal a piece for Ben Olsen and Jaime Moreno.

And then there were three.
150 years ago today, President Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history. The Gettysburg Address was a dedication at the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA, delivered just four and a half months after the Union Army defeated the Confederate Army in the Battle of Gettysburg.
In remembrance of this important day in US history, and the values that Americans hold so dear, Bill Hamid and the U.S. Men's National Team recited the speech today.
This afternoon (3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2) The US Men's National Team faces off against Scotland in an international friendly. One face on the USMNT squad stands out for DCU fans, as Homegrown keeper Bill Hamid was recently called into National Team camp and will be joining his countrymen in Glasgow.
In 1996 and 1997, D.C. United's crest was pretty different. The mark, which featured the same key pieces as today's badge, was updated following the 1997 season. Do you remember the logos of the original ten MLS teams? Do you know which teams have not changed since their inception?

In 2007, former D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell caught Luciano Emilio on camera singing James Blunt's You're Beautiful. This locker room moment was, um, beautiful? But let's hope that the jams in the locker room this year were a little bit more exciting than James Blunt...
